Body Acceptance Workshops

Student attend a body acceptance program

Body Acceptance Workshops are dissonance-based body-acceptance sessions designed to help college-age women resist and challenge sociocultural pressures to conform to the thin ideal and reduce their pursuit of unrealistic appearance standards. Women participate in verbal, written, and behavioral exercises to establish and maintain a positive body image. Results achieved from the workshop include improved body satisfaction, improved mood, reduced use of unhealthy weight-control behaviors, and decreased binge eating and other eating disorder symptoms.

These workshops are ideal for groups. If you are part of a student group, sorority, or RSO and are interested in having a workshop facilitated, please call CAPS and ask to speak with a CAPS Body Acceptance Coordinator.

Participants attend one 2-hour session facilitated by two trained leaders.
