Racial Injustice Statements Post-Election Response

The Body Acceptance Program is a dissonance-based body-acceptance workshop. It is designed to help college-age women resist and challenge sociocultural pressures to conform to the thin-ideal and reduce their pursuit of unrealistic appearance standards. Women participate in verbal, written, and behavioral exercises to establish and maintain a positive body image. Results achieved from these workshops include improved body satisfaction, improved mood, reduced use of unhealthy weight-control behaviors, and decreased binge eating and other eating disorder symptoms.

The Body Acceptance Program consists of two 2-hour sessions facilitated by two leaders (who have attended the workshop and been trained to facilitate the program) and is attended by a group of women participants. The group size is capped at a maximum of 12 participants. The two sessions are held on the same day and time over two consecutive weeks.

Workshops are paused until Fall 2021.

If you would like to have a one-on-one consultation about body positivity, please call CAPS at 402-472-7450 and request a consultation with Jenifer Manstedt. She will offer one-on-one consultations in the interim.

The Body Acceptance Program is ideal for groups. If you are part of a student group, sorority, or RSO and are interested in having a workshop facilitated, please contact bodyacceptance@unl.edu for more information.
