Body Acceptance Workshop
HOLIDAY CLOSURE
CAPS will be closed Friday, December 23, through Monday, January 2, 2023, during the university's holiday closedown. If you're in crisis, please call 402.472.7450 and follow the prompts for immediate assistance (24/7).
The Body Acceptance Workshop is a dissonance-based body-acceptance session designed to help college-age women resist and challenge sociocultural pressures to conform to the thin-ideal and reduce their pursuit of unrealistic appearance standards. Women participate in verbal, written and behavioral exercises to establish and maintain a positive body image. Results achieved from the workshop include improved body satisfaction, improved mood, reduced use of unhealthy weight-control behaviors and decreased binge eating and other eating disorder symptoms.
Participants attend one 2-hour session facilitated by two trained leaders. The group size is capped at a maximum of 12 participants.
