A graduate assistantship is available in Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to assist the CAPS Outreach and Suicide Prevention Coordinator and CAPS clinical team. This position requires assisting in the coordination of the CAPS suicide prevention programming, CAPS outreach efforts, Big Red Pawp Up programming, and assisting with CAPS clinical services.

Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  1. Managing logistics, preparing reports, and working on promotion and recruitment within suicide prevention trainings, Big Red Pawp Up events, and general CAPS outreach events.
  2. Assisting in the preparation of marketing and social media content related to mental health and suicide prevention.
  3. Back up and additional clinical support to CAPS staff.

Required skills/experience:

  1. proven leadership, maturity, and flexibility
  2. ability to work efficiently and independently
  3. effective interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and decision-making skills
  4. previous suicide prevention training
  5. in the counseling, school, or clinical psychology program
  6. completed at least one practicum

The graduate assistant will be supervised by Mariah Johnson, LMHP, LMFT, and administratively overseen by Tricia Besett-Alesch, PhD. This position will require 19.6 hours of work per week, in the CAPS office. For more information contact Mariah Johnson at mariah.johnson@unl.edu.
