Concentration Area
Interns will be given an option to participate in more intentional engagement with our unique UNL student population, as we truly believe every interaction matters. Due to the commitment during your internship year, the Community and Belonging concentration will be woven throughout your clinical work, outreach, and research experience at CAPS.
Community and Belonging Concentration:
A concentrated training experience within the Community and Belonging concentration allows an intern to have an immersed experience working with a wide range of diverse clinical presenting problems, identities, and pathology. The CAPS TD, clinical services AD, and primary supervisors will work as a team to ensure interns obtain a diverse caseload and have opportunities to engage in experiences with diverse student groups over the course of the internship year.
In addition, interns will sit on the Professional Development Committee to discuss ways CAPS staff can intentionally build awareness, compassion, and humility towards all in commitment of recognizing, affirming, promoting, and celebrating the many ways we are unique. We believe that every person is essential and that every interaction matters.
As members of this committee, the interns in this concentration will facilitate one training late in the spring semester and will write the Culture Corner section for two of the CAPS monthly Newsletters. Additionally, with the support of the CAPS Outreach Coordinator and Committee Lead, interns may facilitate and develop outreach, group, and/or workshop programming to support UNL student communities.
